Responsibilities:
- Platform Design: Define best practices for the end-to-end Databricks platform. Collaborate with Databricks and internal teams on evaluating new features (private/public preview). Engage in ongoing discussions with Databricks product teams.
- Platform Infra: Create and manage new Databricks workspaces (premium, standard, serverless) and clusters, including right-sizing. Decommission unused workspaces.
- Delta Sharing: Work with enterprise teams on connected data (data sharing) initiatives.
- User Management: Create new security groups and manage user access (add/delete). Assign Unity Catalog permissions to relevant groups/teams. Manage the Quantum Collaboration platform (sandbox for enterprise innovation).
- Troubleshooting Issues in Databricks: Investigate and diagnose performance issues and errors within Databricks. Review and analyze Databricks logs and error messages. Identify and resolve problems related to cluster configuration or job failures. Optimize Databricks notebooks and jobs for performance. Coordinate with Databricks support for complex issues. Document common troubleshooting steps and solutions. Develop and test Databricks clusters for stability and scalability.
- Governance: Create dashboards to monitor job performance, cluster utilization, and cost. Design dashboards tailored to various user roles (data scientists, admins). Utilize Databricks APIs or integration with monitoring tools for real-time metrics.
